The Budapest Art Symposium, curated by Benedetto Sicca and Giorgi Gulbatashvili, and supported by Turbina Kulturális Központ, is a multidisciplinary platform exploring the intersections between music and the performing arts.

The third season of Techno Symposium opens with the first of two connected chapters under the title:
From Formulas of Creation to Formulas of Curation.

This two-part focus invites two central figures of Budapest's electronic music and nightlife scene to reflect on how their musical and artistic practice has shaped their curatorial work and vice versa.

Through their experience and perspectives, we will explore how the ways of playing, partying, and producing have changed over the past 20 years, and try to imagine how they might evolve in the next 20. What role can each artist and each member of the community play in shaping the scene to come?

Focus of Volume 1 – with Manek

In this first chapter, we will dive into the vision of Manek - DJ, curator and one of the most respected selectors on the Budapest scene.

Known for his precise and emotionally rich sets, Manek has developed a unique musical language. But beyond the decks, his contribution as a curator has had a deep impact on the local scene.

Together, we will explore the philosophy behind his curatorial choices, focusing on his desire to integrate musical selection, spatial dynamics, and atmosphere whether in a DJ set, a club night or a festival.

How does the artist's eye influence the curator's strategy and vice versa? How do you prepare a set, a lineup, a club season or a festival program? What values guide these choices?

The session will include a brief musical showcase by Manek, and an open Q&A.
