A lemez gyökerei a Jesus Lizard dühéből, a Shellac jellegzetes ritmusképleteiből és a néhai Mark E. Smith-féle The Fall sötét post-punk örökségéből táplálkoznak. With a grunge-infused, neurotic, and noisy DNA, DITZ has built its reputation primarily on its forward-thinking, feral live performances, delivered during extensive touring since the release of their excellent debut album The Great Regression in 2022. The record was widely acclaimed by the music press, including Pitchfork, Mowno, Loud & Quiet, DIY Mag, among others.
This explosive quintet from Brighton, rooted in the post-punk and noise-rock scene, has earned high praise from Joe Talbot of Idles, who described them as “the best band in Brighton - if not the world.”
The band announced their second album in January 2025, Never Exhale. Written during years of relentless touring across Europe and recorded in London by Seth Manchester, the album draws from the fury of Jesus Lizard, the distinctive rhythmic signatures of Shellac, and the dark post-punk legacy of the late Mark E. Smith’s The Fall. DITZ pulls off the audacious feat of pushing rock into new dimensions through intelligent compositions, the undeniable charisma of Cal Francis as an inspired yet nonchalant leader, and a remarkable ability to transform any audience into a collective trance experience.
