A La Dispute utoljára 2015-ben játszott Magyarországon, most pedig a szeptemberben érkező, No One Was Driving The Car című lemezükkel térnek vissza 2026. február 27-én az A38 Hajóra.
Hat év telt el azóta, hogy a La Dispute kiadta legutóbbi albumát, a Panoramát. Azóta a michigani post-hardcore zenekar – amelynek tagjai Jordan Dreyer (ének), Brad Vander Lugt (dob), Chad Morgan-Sterenberg és Corey Stroffolino (gitár) valamint Adam Vass (basszusgitár) – megbirkózott a pandémia okozta stagnálással, megünnepelte a Wildlife és a Rooms Of The House tízéves jubileumát, és megkezdte a No One Was Driving The Car
című album munkálatait. Az ötödik stúdióalbum az első, amelyet teljes egészében a zenekar készített, a munkálatok több helyen folytak: Grand Rapidsban, Detroitban, az Egyesült Királyságban, Ausztráliában és a Fülöp-szigeteken is dolgoztak rajta:
„Úgy gondolom, hogy a környezetváltozás nagyon sokat segített abban, hogy minden alkalommal új életet leheljünk a folyamatba, amikor visszatértünk hozzá” – mondja Dreyer.
Az új lemezt részben a Hitehagyott című, 2017-es pszichológiai thriller ihlette, az album a közelgő apokalipszis árnyékában jelenlévő rossz közérzettel foglalkozik, amelyet a technológia fejlődése észrevehetően tovább súlyosbított. A No One Was Driving The Car (magyarul senki sem vezette az autót) idézet egy rendőrtiszttől származik, amelyet Dreyer egy halálos kimenetelű, önvezető Tesla-balesetről szóló újságcikkben olvasott, egy abszurd eseményről, amely felveti a kérdést, hogy mennyire tudjuk irányítani a saját életünket. A tizennégy dinamikus számban a zenekar az egzisztencializmus témájával és az emberi szükségletekkel küzd, hogy megnyugvást és biztonságérzetet találjon egy olyan létezésben, ahol gyakran engedély nélkül a káoszba taszítanak bennünket. Dreyer még őszintébb hangon kiabál, a gitárok pedig élesebbek, mint valaha a szeptember 5-én érkező új albumon.
„Bár nem élveztem a kreatív folyamatot, mert megterhelő és gyakran nem szórakoztató, azt is gondolom, hogy mégis ez a legszórakoztatóbb dolog, amit valaha csináltam” – elmélkedik Dreyer.- „Azok a felismerések, amelyet teszel, azok az áttörések. Mint amikor folyton akadályokba ütközöl és hirtelen valami bekattan, ami szinte isteni érzés, mintha valahonnan máshonnan érkezett volna a szikra”.
A La Dispute nem egyedül érkezik a Hajóra: velük tart a kaliforniai Vs. Self screamo banda és a poszt-rockban utazó brit Pijn is. A koncertre a jegyértékesítés augusztus 22-én, 10 órakor indul a www.livenation.hu-n!

No One Was Driving The Car - La Dispute presents its new album in Hungary.
La Dispute last played in Hungary in 2015, and now they are returning to the A38 Ship on February 27, 2026, with their new album No One Was Driving The Car, which will be released in September.
It’s been six years since La Dispute released their last album, Panorama. Since then, the Michigan post-hardcore band—made up of Jordan Dreyer on vocals, Brad Vander Lugt on drums, Chad Morgan-Sterenberg and Corey Stroffolino on guitar, and Adam Vass on bass—dealt with the stagnance of the pandemic, celebrated the ten-year anniversaries of Wildlife and Rooms Of The House, and began working on No One Was Driving The Car. The fifth studio LP is the first entirely produced by the group, and it came together in Grand Rapids and Detroit, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Philippines: “I think the change in environment was really helpful to breathing new life into the process each time we came back to it,” Dreyer says.
Partly inspired by the 2017 psychological thriller First Reformed, No One Was Driving The Car reckons with malaise in the shadow of the looming apocalypse, which has noticeably been worsened by the advancement of tech. The title comes from a quote from a police officer Dreyer read in a news article about a lethal self-driving Tesla crash, an absurd event which raises questions about the amount of control we have in our own lives. In fourteen dynamic tracks, the band grapples with the existential topic and the human need to find comfort and a sense of security in an existence where we’re often thrust into chaos without permission. Dreyer yells with a more primal sense and sings in a more refined way, and the guitars have a sharper edge than ever before. “As much as I don’t enjoy the creative process because it’s taxing and often not fun, I also think it’s the most fun that I ever have,” Dreyer contemplates. “It’s the revelations you make, the breakthroughs. It’s banging your head against a wall and suddenly something clicks in a way that feels almost divine, like it came from somewhere else.”
La Dispute will not be coming to Hajó alone: they will be accompanied by Californian screamo band Vs. Self and British post-rock band Pijn. Tickets for the concert will go on sale on August 22 at 10 a.m. on www.livenation.hu.
